A Lovely DI Find

Found this beauty at the DI for 20 bucks today. I was drooling at it but it was in someone else's cart. In the corner of my eye I saw them putting it back and walking away. I tried not to run...maybe I did run a little....and snatched it into my cart. Did I need a entryway table? Not really, I already had a long black bench that works great. It is the perfect size, shape and price for my living room though. Now I need to decide whether to paint it or leave it alone. I'm leaning towards painting it a pretty red because it kind of blends into the beige wall. Now how to justify the purchase to my hubby?

A Bed Fit For a Princess

Last Spring I started the project of refinishing an old bed for Sophia. Well, it's finally finished 10 long months later. 2009 was a very hectic year for us so I'm actually surprised I even got it done at all. My poor child was sleeping on a mattress on the floor....she really *needed* her princess bed finished. Here's the before pictures:

It needed a lot of work.

Four coats of paint, three layers of top coat, and many hours of buffing and sanding later...

And Daddy built new sturdy rails for the princess.

Bad Blogger

I've been a very bad blogger lately. I think I'm averaging 1 post a month. My kids have been sick one right after another and I was sick this past week. I am now starting to feel better and ready to get moving. I am getting ready to start working {again} on refinishing a headboard and footboard for my little princess. I am in the sanding and prepping stage. I think that is about 75% of the work! I will post before and after pictures when I am finished. I would also like to start a "thirfty find/project of the week" series. I'll keep you posted...soon!

I (puffy) Heart the Dollar Tree!

Look at the cool loot I scored from the Dollar Tree! Cars Valentine's for Jack, pretty Valentine ribbon, some cute hair bows for Sophia. I also found all of the princess party stuff for Sophia's birthday coming up soon. And the yummiest find, heart marshmallows for Valentine's day hot chocolate!

Grandma's Cabin

Last weekend my in-law's offered to have the kids sleep over at the cabin that they are building above Mt. Pleasant.

The kids had a lot of fun riding on the snowmobiles.

Alex is old enough to drive one by himself now.

And this is where Paul and I went:

Across the street from this:

Ahhhhhhh, peace and quiet. Thanks Mom and Mark!
